Church Ministries
Pastoral Ministry
Along with the primary functions of teaching and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the pastor is available to provide spiritual guidance, counseling, and advice. The pastor should be contacted directly when there is a need for such service.
Deacon’s Ministry
The Deacon’s Ministry is the official Board of appointed officers of the church. This Ministry serves as Armor Bearers for the Pastor; assist the Pastor in the caring for the well being of the church and the church family; and outreach such as visitation and communion with the confined.
Mother’s Ministry
The Mothers Ministry of the church is normally seasoned women who serve as an example for others by providing wisdom and insight gained from experience. Assist with the Baptismal services and nurturing the candidates. They assist with Visitation Ministries and in other areas of the church activities.
Media Ministry
The Media Ministry here at Rising Star Baptist Church is to carry the Gospel of Jesus Christ to our visually-driven, ever changing community through the use of technology and media as a worship and outreach tool. The media ministry is an outlet used to our share worship experiences, publicize events and activities, and announce points of interest to the community.
Deaconess Ministry
The Deaconess Ministry assists the Deacon’s Ministry in accomplishing their goals. This Ministry serves to assist the Deacons and Pastor in caring for the well being of the church; and outreach such as visitation and communion with the confined.
Kitchen/Culinary Ministry
Food is good for the soul. When we sup together, we build a fellowship of Christian friendship and unity. The Culinary/Kitchen Ministry prepares meals with a spirit of love and care for the church family in support of dinners after services, receptions, luncheons/brunch as necessary, special occasions, and repast for bereaving families. The culinary ministry gracefully plans the setup and special effects for the fellowship hall to accommodate dining activities as needed.
Usher Ministry Youth and Young Adult Ministry
“I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of the wickedness (Psalm 84:10).” The Ushers Ministry is vital to the worship experience. A doorkeeper stands at a crucial and strategic position as he or she meets and greets worshipers Sunday after Sunday, week after week. They provide assistance when needed to all who enter therein. The Usher or doorkeeper opens more than just doors; he or she opens the opportunity for the unsaved to be saved, the downtrodden to be lifted up, and the weary to find rest.
Music Ministry
The Music Ministry has a vital role in the worship experience. The goal of the music department is to reach out to others through song and praise. The Music Ministry consists of the four choirs: Combined Choir, Male Choir, Youth & Young Adult Choir, and Milton B. Reeves Children of Praise Choir.
Mission Ministry
The purpose of our Missions Ministry is to provide humanitarian aid, feed the hungry, clothe the poor, minister to the elderly, widows and, visit sick and shut-in and reach out to people of all ages and in all walks of life. Help to provide the needs of all people.
Women of Purpose Ministry
The Women of Purpose Ministry is a sisterhood ministry designed to encourage spiritual growth and development in the women of the church and the community through studying and applying the Word of God, interactive workshops, and fellowship. The Women’s Ministry endeavors to build strong Christian character and a firm foundation needed to have strong
Men’s and Brotherhood
The C.L.U.B. Men’s Ministry shall provide opportunities for men to mature in Christ by gaining the understanding of God’s Word and purpose for their lives; to share with one another, encourage a brotherly bond, and to help men become fully devoted to following Christ.
SIGNAGE Ministry
The Signage Ministry is a method for Rising Star Baptist Church uses to share evangelizing messages to the community via the outdoor sign and to announcing upcoming activities.
Youth and Young Adult Ministry
The Youth and Young Adult Ministry is designed to enhance the youth of the church. The ministry gives youth/teens a practical knowledge of the Bible that will assist them in making decisions about challenges they face on a daily basis. The youth participate in the planning and presenting of programs. Under the direction of an adult (s), an exciting atmosphere is created in which youths/teens can mature, discover and develop their gifts, grow into balanced adults-physically, socially, intellectually, and spiritually.
Evangelism/Outreach Ministry
The purpose of the evangelism and outreach ministry is to explore areas and opportunities for reaching out “beyond the four walls.” The spreading of the good news of Jesus Christ is key in reaching people and having a positive effect on their lives. This Ministry will function like a committee to present ideas to the church for reaching people and to look at creative ideas of outreach for the church.
Christian Education
The foundational basis for growth on this Christian journey is rooted in gaining an understanding and knowledge of God’s word. The Bible tells us to study to show ourselves approved unto God, a workman need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth. Rising Star Baptist Church’s Christian Education Ministry is comprised of a variety of learning opportunities and programs that fosters a base for learning, developing, expanding, and growing as a disciples and believers in God. Those opportunities and programs include: Weekly Hour of Power Bible Study; Annual Vacation Bible School, Weekly Sunday School, Ministry Workshops, Christian Education Seminars; Interactive Outreach Activities; Ministerial Advisors, and Leadership Training and New Members Orientation.
“Two Become one” Married Couples Ministry
The goal of the Rising Star Baptist Church Two Become One Married Couples Ministry is to educate, motivate, and empower engaged, young married couples, and experienced married couples in understanding how to develop and maintain positive Spirit-filled marriages. The Marriage Ministry seeks to help couples understand, God’s sovereign plan for marriage, the roles of spouses within marriage, and the wonderful blessing marriage can be when both spouses are obedient to God’s Word.The ministry is to strengthen marriages through Biblical principles, increase our understanding of husband and wife roles in God's order, and understand the role of the family in the church.
T. V. Reeves and Rising Star Memorial Scholarship
The T.V. Reeves and Rising Star Memorial Scholarship was established in 1999 in memory of the Late Rev. T. V. Reeves who served as pastor of Rising Star from 1985 – 1999. Rev. Reeves loved the children and only desired the best for them and their future. The scholarship fund is funded by member contributions and provides a means for the church to give scholarship donations to active members who are students enrolled in an institution of higher learning and, as funds are available, to gift students graduating from high schools or college. Funds at distributed at a minimum of once a school year. Scholarships are to assist students with their financial obligations such as books, school supplies, room/board and tuition support.
